Connecting the dots

I just had one of those "moments" when a few things you've picked up in that past all come together with something in the presnet and make a revelation.

I happened upon an .mp3 by Aimee Mann, a name I've heard (and who's music I've heard) but someone who has never really registered for me. So, out of curiosity I cruised over to her site. It was one of the most amazinly beautiful and creative sites I've ever seen. Then I came upon her discography and it all came together. She did nearly half of the soundtrack for Magnolia - one of my favorite movies of all time.

I know Ben would be glad to know that I've finally come around to someone he really enjoys.

pedro the live one

Looks like Aaron got out to see pedro the lion (who's name leave's something to be desired, but who's live shows are groovy) last night and had a good time. I caught one of their shows once in DC and it was all that Aaron says it was.

If you've never seen them and they aren't coming to your town, you can get an entire concert they did here.

The Great Hillbones Escape

Check out what ole' Hillbones is up to when he's not mudwhistlin'.

He's been running a little experiment over the last month to see what his life would be like without movies or TV. And let's just say that he was a junkie at best going into the experiment. Some really interesting reading there. He's starting to sound like another famous American we all know and love.

On that sort of a note, I came across this journal a few days ago called the New Atlantis. There is, fittingly, an article over there on what the author calls egocasting which is what ole Hillbones is trying to do without.
